.About Me.

Hello everyone! Thank you for taking the time to check out my blog. Blogging is very new to me and I am excited to gear up for this journey with you!
My name is Katie Miller and I love my life. I was born and raised in a Christian home in Northern New Jersey. My family and my faith are the two most important things. Growing up, my parents set the greatest example of love and how to show God’s love. I feel extremely blessed for what I have experienced, both the good and the bad, and for everything I have learned so far in life--I cannot wait to see what the future holds!

I currently live in Central Virginia in a town called Lynchburg. How did I get from New Jersey all the way down to Virginia? College! I graduated from Liberty University in May 2009 with a B.S. in Elementary Education as well as my M.R.S. degree. That’s right--I met my husband at school! (Our ProposalAdam Everett Miller, even his name sounds dreamy. I never would have imagined I would end up with a boy from the state with 10,000 lakes, yes, Minnesota. He has made me the happiest person and I thank God daily for giving him to me as my best friend and husband. Adam and I were married June 20, 2009. (Invitation Animation) Our wedding was incredible and so much fun--we both, to this day, get ridiculously large grins on our faces when we think of it. It was such a special night and we are honored so many loved ones were there to share it with us.

After the excitement from graduation and the wedding passed, we got back to "normal life" and I decided to take a break from teaching because I wanted AND needed to. Finishing school, student teaching, and planning a wedding all at the same time made for one stressful, but happy, girl! In my area of Virginia, some of the local schools were shutting down and almost all schools were downsizing their staff so my decision to take a break came at the perfect time.

Life is unpredictable and God provided me with another job dealing with children and teaching--I am a Nanny!--There, I said it! I have been a little nervous sharing this information with people since it is not a life long career path but now I see it is what God had planned for me in this chapter of life. I have been the Nanny for a family in town for a year and a half and I love it! I love the two little girls I watch, ages 2 and 4, with my whole heart. It has been an amazing adventure watching the girls grow and teaching them along the way. I can now see how valuable I am to this family..to their precious little girls.. and I am thankful for the experience. As I like to say--It's excellent "mommy practice" :)

One month into marriage Adam and I came to a decision. Not about our jobs, or moving..another very important, life changing decision…we wanted to BUY A PUPPY! And did we ever! His name is Colden and he is a Shiba Inu. A Shiba Inu?--We asked ourselves the same thing but holding him in the pet store and feeling our hearts bursting, we knew, he had to be ours. This dog has brought great joy into our lives and has strengthened our marriage in ways we never expected. Colden is another blessing and everyday his little face just melts our hearts.

It is just us three living here in Virginia enjoying and learning each day. Life is simple, life is sweet, life is unpredictable, and always remember..little things bring smiles.

  1. Hi! I just stumbled across your blog :) I loved your recent book page idea ( I noticed a book in one of your pics called "Moments Togehter" or something along that line :) We were given that same devotional when my husband and I got married!
We have similar paths...my husband just graduated w/ his Masters from Liberty and I used to be a nanny! It wasn't my chosen career path either but God totally blessed it and opened the door and I got to take care of a wonderful little boy and share Jesus with their family! I'd say that was a good job!
I look forward to keeping up w/ your craft blog!

  9. Hi Katie,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm so glad that you found it through google and that my deck post encouraged you to tackle your own upcoming project! I was a little hesitant about the white paint myself, but after reading a lot of reviews on Sherwin Williams Deckscapes Solid Stain I decided to give it a go...and I have no complaints so far! I am planning to do a follow-up post on how the products held up in a couple of months, so if you haven't done your project by then, check back and I will give you a more accurate review of the product at that point! But if you do the project before then, I would give it a thumbs up so far. We have had almost non-stop rain for the last few weeks since we finished the project and it looks great still....for what it's worth! I hope this helps though and good luck with your project in the future!!

And thanks for becoming a follower too! I jumped over to your blog once I saw your comment and I'm pretty hooked so far! I love how the blogging world works...there is so much inspiration out there!! Now I am your newest follower!!! I can't wait to see what you do with the new house! Congrats and best of luck with the big purchase!

    All the best,
    Heather

  17. Hey Katie,
I just came across your blog via Pintrest (totally love the orange felt wreath!) and I enjoyed browsing around. Then, I read this section and, what do you know, you went to Liberty. I did too!--and I actually remember meeting Adam (fellow Minnesotan...but, that was a long time ago!). I'm a new follower to say the least :)

    1. Hi Katie-just found your blog. I am a newbie at blogging myself. I think you are the cutest thing and I love your crafting ideas. My hubby is a bit of a penny pincher, so what I can't buy...I make it myself. I love it and think it is so much fun to make things instead of buying them. You have alot of great ideas! I also am a Christian, so it is wonderful to see others that aren't afraid to let the world know..thank you for that! I also live in Virginia, too. I live in Williamsburg.
Thanks so much for your blog-keep up the good work! I will be watching and reading!! :0D

  20. Hello! I was just introduced to your blog and I look forward to 'getting to know you." I grew up in Japan and had a Sheba Inu all my life. Lord willing one of these days I would love to have one again. Our girl was the best dog in the world. Losing her when she was 17 was one of the hardest days of my life. I was in college and my parents called to tell me they had to put her down for her sake. I know you will have many happy days with her. Now, enough about dogs. I am off to explore your blog. God bless! Alicia

  21. Hi Katie: I found your blog through "craft gossip" and will be making the spoon mirror as soon as I can....but then I saw the wreaths and it drew me deeper into your blog!!! I would like to follow you, but I don't have Google+. I saw many people follow you on Pinterest but I cannot find you on there. I am new to Pinterest so I don't fully know how to navigate through it yet. I would love to follow your blog, is there an email option? Can you please email me with info on how to follow your blog or find you on Pinterest. Thanks!!! Karen Fox from Illinois kifox70@yahoo.com
