.House Progress.

Hello friends, happy August!
This Summer is going by fast but I am not surprised, they always do :)

Adam and I have now been official homeowners for 6 weeks! I would love to show you all of the new paint colors we chose, the carpeting we pulled up, and the walls we knocked down but I cannot--You know why?--Because we haven't done any of that! It's true. We have simply unpacked boxes, organized, and cleaned. Yep, super boring.

Adam and I are proud to say we have almost furnished our entire home with furniture and other pieces from my college dorm rooms, my college townhouse, and of course our first place together. You can view our rented duplex here. (We miss it! Great, precious memories there.) We have made a few purchases but overall we have been in total SAVE mode. Our exterior needs a bit more loving so we have set our priorities to finishing the backyard. The front yard is cleaned up and we are happy with it at this point, you can read a post about what we did here.

I have received quite a few emails from you (after I realized I was a "no-reply blogger" and fixed the problem) about the house and the progress, or lack there of, we have made. Adam and I had our first house guests last week so after I got the house super clean with beautiful vacuum lines showing (I know, I know it's just been so long since I've had carpet to do that!), I kept the hubs and pup out to snap a few photos to share with you all. Remember, do not get excited--we really just unpacked and made the house livable for ourselves and our guests. Enough of me blabbing--Are you ready to see the pictures?--Enjoy!

The bins on the floor far left are all of my craft supplies which explains my lack of any crafting and the bins located on the floor straight ahead are all of my decorative items (shelves, curtains, picture frames, etc.) which explains the major lack of personality in our home. Someday soon these will be hopefully be unpacked and put to good use! :) Someday that is..
 My two new best friends:
Well everyone, this is it for now!

The garage still needs more organizing and our master bedroom and bathroom simply needs to be cleaned so pictures coming soon :)

I hope you have enjoyed the little progress on our home. A blogger by the name of Mrs. 2010's Housewife commented a few weeks ago and it stuck with me..her words are such comfort..

"This is just the beginning of a long lifetime of hard work- remember, home ownership is a marathon not a sprint!"

Can I get an Amen?! Thank you for this wonderful comment, it has really changed my outlook on everything needing to be accomplished.

Happy Living--Happy Settling In
and remember

  1. woohoo!! yay for being a home owner! If you're like me, 2 years down the road it'll still feel surreal...sometimes i still feel like I'm just playing house ;)

it's so spacious Katie! :) Lots to work with! It all looks fantastic already :) but I know you have great plans for it...thanks for taking us along your journey! And *cheers* to home ownership being a marathon! it takes time to make your house a home, but it's all worth the time and effort :)

  2. Don't feel bad! Todd (who was Scott's best man, incase you don't remember us) and I have been living in our house for almost 2.5 years, and we STILL don't have everything painted/decorated/organized. It literally took us 6 MONTHS to get every single box unpacked, and until we found out we were pregnant and converted one room into a nursery, it was COMPLETELY empty. Currently we only still have one room left to paint...but like I said, it's been over 2 years! You've got time! :)

  4. Congratulations on the new house! It's fantastic! It definitely looks like you've been there longer than 6 weeks. It's taken us years and years to feel like we officially "live there" and have unpacked! But it's so worth it!

  8. Congratulations!! The house looks nice already! Lots of possibilities for decor! I especially love the basement, we don't have one in our neck of the woods. I love the comment you shared, this is our philosophy, too! It makes getting things done much easier to accomplish when you remember it doesn't have to all be done at once.
